Life will give back to us whatever we’ve instilled in our children. We cannot reap what we haven’t sown. We are busy building all our children and ignoring street children, at the end the impact we’ve made in their lives would repay us.
Every great personality in our societies was once a child, some without a parent and have incredible stories of how their society has impacted their lives and the result is what we’re admiring now. What we are tasking ourselves to do in the lives of street-connected children won’t affect us now but tomorrow, when they have become grownups and inflicting pain on us.
Most street children are living in misery, their mental health tortured and it would get to a time they would explode in the worst state, at that time the only thing we can do is to regret not putting them on the right path. If there’s any correction, if there’s a direction, then it needs to be done now. One of the ways to do this is to grant them access to the things every child needs.
They deserve to see another side of life that is conducive for their stage in life. When there is a bad nut amongst so many nuts, we don’t allow it to be mixed together. Let’s eliminate what threatens the progress of our peaceful society.
At this stage where everybody is minding their business and the government is having its own motives, granting access to all children means, we are giving equal opportunities of growth and not one progressing than the other to breed hatred amongst them. We’re taking the best decision when the issues of street-connected children are addressed.
Starlight Foundation has always stood by these words, in its Teach Them Young initiative, it focuses on riding on the theme of celebration of this year’s international day for street children.
Our children need to be impacted so they don’t blame their failures on us. With support from Adamfo Ghana, we visited schools to impact this knowledge and some safety equipment that protects them in this pandemic period.
The children of St. Joseph’s Montessori have been exposed to this knowledge with the hope that they impact their friends to stay off the street.
We thank the school authorities for making this possible. This knowledge should continually be spread amongst our children, no child deserves more than the other.
