Every day in the year, there are more than a million girls around the world menstruating however the experiences of each girl vary from one another. Whiles others go about their days like every typical day, there is a set that needs to face neglect and abuse bits on their period. Over the years, the Let Her Know initiative has taught our girls to embrace their periods with care whiles pursuing their day-to-day activities like any other day.
Sadly, this cannot be possible without menstrual products, all our education will be in vain if girls do not have access to menstrual products and a healthy environment to achieve this. With the support of Adamfo Ghana and Wings of Support, the girls of Accra Rehabilitation Centre and street-connected at Kingsway will not only be exposed to our education but also have the opportunity to thrive in school and at home with the provision of both disposable and reusable sanitary pads.
The time to normalize menstruation and its associated activities also comes with a cost that cannot be left to burden our girls. With this, we entreat all government agencies and non-profitable agencies to help in our fight for free menstrual products for our girls. Cost burdens will not only be removed, but girls will also have the confidence to move about their duties without the fear of being ridiculed or spotted for a leaked period.
