The alleged gang rape and murder of Ms. Ruth Eshun, a nurse in Ayuom in Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region is one that saddens our heart. It’s clear evidence of the many brutalities against women rendering them vulnerable. Some which are unheard, many women have fallen victims with their stories yet to be declared.
Until her demise, Ms. Ruth Eshun was a wife and a mother, the pain in the heart of her loved ones cannot be erased, we grieve with them and add our voice to the many cries of justice for her, it will console her family and it will be one of the many ways to address the continuous violence against women in all forms.
Ms. Ruth dedicated herself to her nation and served as a vessel of saving lives through her work yet she had no saviour at that crucial point of her life. Justice for her is justice for all women because her story reveals how women have suffered violence in many ways yet they remain unaddressed.
This one we must not overlook, to address all cases of violence and visit our law which addresses all forms of crimes and not some. That is when women can fearlessly contribute to development.
May justice prevail for Ruth Eshun and for all brutalities leveled against women.
