‘Because in our pain we must find each other – a mirror to mirror the grace of our shared humanity, the stunningly broken beauty of our shared grief. And you can let your grief see my grief and let our tears mingle into some kind of healing alchemies and you’ll know what I know. – That WE ARE NEVER ALONE.
I promise. You and me? We are never, ever alone’. (Jeanette LeBlanc)
There are times in our lives when we feel lonely and need people to realize the moment, we are in. When the people around us do not, it turns us into a worse state with us assuming whether we have people who love us. We need to feel that people recognize our existence, that makes us less burdened in life.
For many, the greatest person to make one feel wanted and not alone is a spouse. A spouse is a person one has accepted to be with you for the rest of life. We believe they will be there for us in our best and worst moments. When we lose them, it seems we’ve lost our hopes and aspirations. For some, there is no recovery till they also join their dead spouse.
This is the feeling of every widow and widower. For us at the Starlight Foundation, we do not want to lose our widows and widowers to the sorrow of losing a spouse. They are not alone, they have living companions like us, we cannot directly replace their lost spouse, but provide a replacement worth living for.
This January, we want to tell this to the widows and widowers of Ekon Community in Cape-Coast, and our message is very simple; THEY ARE NOT ALONE AND WOULD NEVER BE.
