Most visually impaired girls have difficulty in managing their menstrual periods independently, their menstrual hygiene practices are not at the desired level and most of them need help in menstrual hygiene management. Some of these girls have been abandoned by families and their only support system are the people who constantly show them kindness. Whether specially-abled or not, every girl menstruates and for the girls of the school for the blind at Akropong, the need for special attention in maintaining their menstrual health is urgent.
As part of the Menstrual Hygiene Day Celebration in May, these girls will not only get access to both reusable and disposable pads but they will gain in-depth knowledge on the indicators of their periods and how they can safely take care of themselves when there is no one around to help.
Every girl can have a safe period when we invest in making sanitary products accessible for all. Together, we can end period stigma and empower all girls to realize their full potential.
