Menstruation itself is an open truth. Who doesn’t know that most ladies are on their periods every day? The issue is with our education. If we do not know what is expected to be done during menstruation, how then do we impact our girls?
This knowledge is what Starlight Foundation and Adamfo Ghana have been sharing with specially-abled girls every year. When we demonstrate to them how to keep themselves during their periods it becomes a solution to the various stigma they face in society. Aside from that, having a sanitary pad is great but properly using it in order not to attract certain diseases is also another. This is why we are excited this year for girls of the School for the Blind in Akropong to receive both disposable and reusable sanitary pads. They now have access to various options of sanitary products and how to properly use them which is very exciting for them.
Our thanksgiving goes to their school authorities, together menstrual health and products will be accessible to all girls and they won’t have to deal with the embarrassment of no sanitary products when they are on their periods.
