At Starlight Foundation, we believe that preventing children from entering street life is more effective than rehabilitation. Through our early intervention initiative, we engage actively with at-risk children before they end up on the streets. We collaborate closely with local schools and communities to identify vulnerable children and provide the support they need to stay in school and avoid street life.
Our award-winning programme is designed to raise awareness about fire and health safety, educate children about potential career paths, and highlight the challenges posed by street life. Over the years, we have conducted impactful workshops for students throughout Ghana.
In line with this mission, Starlight brings together professionals from various sectors, including the Ghana Fire Service, Ghana Prisons Service, Ambulance Service, and the National Commission for Civic Education. These professionals provide children with practical, hands-on knowledge to help them avoid accidents and make informed decisions as they transition into adulthood.
This year, in partnership with Wings of Support, we are empowering young people to stay in school by providing supplies such as exercise books, pens, mathematical sets, and sanitisers. We also emphasise the need for greater action to protect the rights, safety, and well-being of street-connected children.
